Dark Horse (PHILS) is an ambient and blackened folk solo project based in Makati City, Philippines. It is the nom de noise of Karl R. De Mesa, ex-guitarist for post-rock band Biscochong Halimaw and drone metal collective Gonzo Army.
Dark Horse’s “Fictions” EP and “Beastland Elegies” album are available to purchase digitally on Bandcamp. The “Lores” EP, a collaboration album featuring Bobby Legaspi (Basalt Shrine, Surrogate Prey), is forthcoming with a release on CD and tape under Harrowing Records (IND) in 2023.
