Bio
CERUMENTRIC is a Filipino synthwave/synthrock musician who uses simple punk rock-influenced pop song structures, retrowave synthesizer melodies, and post-rock layers to make heartfelt, honest songs about self-empowerment, body positivity, radical self-care, and self-healing. He grew up in the 1980’s in the Philippines watching Japanese science fiction TV shows Bioman, Maskman, and Shaider as well as animated giant robot series Voltes V, Daimos, and Macross. He is always excited about new technology—especially about artificial intelligence—and using computers in music performance. He uses a combination of DIY punk aesthetics with Japanese concepts such as wabi-sabi (beauty and serenity in things that are simple, imperfect, and impermanent) and ichigo-ichi-e (treasuring the unrepeatable nature of a moment) to create songs that will transport the listener to his alternate futuristic neon-lighted universe.
